SAM-A-GRAM This is a sampling of our periodic newsletter to our members. Sam-a-Gram Vol.40 #2 May, 2021 FROM THE DIRECTOR Hello SoCal Good Sam: We have another beautiful Spring day in Southern California although in the past week we experienced a couple of days in the low to mid 90’s in my area. As you guys know once again, we had to postpone our Rally until March 30 through April 3, 2022 due to the COVID19 guidelines for Social Gatherings. Please schedule your campout to join us at the “Tailgate Party Rally” at Golden Village Palms in Hemet on these dates. Chapters can have their regular Campouts/Social Gatherings as long as they abide by CDC guidelines and campground rules. Good Sam will provide insurance for select Good Sam events such as rallies. If your state/province allows for social gatherings and your state/provincial chapters plan to hold an event. Safety information and event restrictions/guidelines must be followed. Good Sam aims for our organization to get involved in a national volunteer event sometime around late September/Fall 2021. Dates have not yet been finalized. The goal is for the entire Good Sam, Camping World and Gander RV & Outdoors organization to volunteer their time and efforts and maybe break a record for most hours volunteered! SoCal needs two couples to fill a couple of positions on the SoCal Staff, we need a Secretary and a Vendor Sales Rep of course as needed to get everything done. If you are interested in being on the SoCal Staff, please send me an Email ( rdsfjs@aol.com ) or call at ( 909-229-6963) hope to hear from you soon. COVID19 vaccine shots are available for anyone who wants the vaccine over the age of 16 years. We are looking forward to seeing everyone soon, keep your families safe, happy and healthy. Chapter News Sam’s Radio Hams Margie Hoffman – Pres. Lynne Miller – Editor March, 2021 Hello Fellow Sam’s, As we’re staying at home and doing things around the house, many of us are preparing our rigs for future travels. Your SRH board held a meeting a couple of weeks ago to discuss how we can get closer to scheduling our group campouts. We came up with several ideas and then brought our thoughts to the chapter members via our bi-weekly ZOOM campfire get together. All of us shared our ideas and thoughts and our wagon master, Sue Craft, took notes and is preparing a list of the favorites and the destinations most likely to make the final list. Since that ZOOM meeting was not an official meeting, as those are usu- ally held at our monthly campouts, we want to formally invite all SRH members to attend the next ZOOM meeting. We will make it an official general meeting and by the end of the evening, we will be able to announce our decision. We will then publish the 2021 campout schedule beginning in the April HOG. The date and time is Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at 7:30pm. Please check your email as Ann Morgan will send out the link again this week. Hopefully, many of us have now completed our Covid-19 vaccinations and even though may feel safer than last year. we must still continue to stay at safe distances and wear your mask to protect both you and others. Remember that there are still those who have not yet been able to get their shots. So keep washing your hands and remember to check on those who may be more isolated than you are. Don’t forget our weekly ZELLO net on all Sunday mornings at 8:45am. I hope we will see you on our ZOOM meetings every other Tuesday evenings at 7:30pm. Rollin’ Singles Patti Berg – Pres Helaina Costello - Editor March, 2021 March 5 – 7, 2021 Banning Stagecoach KOA Announcements Joining us for this campout were Mark, Harriet, Jeannie, Mike, Lynn, Dorothy, Barbara, Gail, Patti Berg and Helaina). Barbara's friend Netta joined us for the campout. (Helaina was a guest of Dorothy). Gini Vandermel came on Saturday to visit for a short while during the meeting and brought a bag of grapefruit. Not having a clubhouse to gather put a damper on the usually energetic group of campers and our normal activities. It was very cold and windy, so we couldn't play cards; during the afternoon it was warm, but the mornings and evenings the weather was very unbearable to hang out. Friday: the group met for happy hour finger food dinner; there was an assortment of chips and guacamole, crackers, cream cheese and sliced cheese, fruit, deviled eggs, cream puffs, eclairs, and oatmeal cookies, and Harriet's boxed wine. Gail made a fire, and we sat around the campfire talking until the cold chased everyone away, leaving Dorothy, Helaina and Mike to douse the fire. Saturday Morning: the group met for breakfast potluck of hash browns and sausage, sausage patties, cut up fruit, oatmeal with raisins and walnuts, and sliced apples. Harriet brought her mimosas. Saturday Meeting: we discussed upcoming campouts and charities. After the meeting we played two games of Farkle with Netta winning both games. Mike brought over his oatmeal raisin cookies and Dorothy brought over her "cowboy" cookies. Saturday Evening: around 5 pm. we met over at Mark's rig; he had set up his grill and some people cooked steaks. There was an assortment of salads (green, cabbage and potato), Barbara made her fluffy ambrosia salad and Netta made a rice dish with cheese. For dessert there was an assortment of cookies, cherry pie, leftover cream puffs and eclairs. The 50/50 drawing was pulled with Harriet winning $11.00 of the $23.00 pot; we raffled off the $25.00 Camping World Certificate (which generated $15.00 for the club) with Helaina winning the gift certificate. Since we ran out of firewood, Mark and Mike brought out their propane fire pits; however, the weather was too cold and windy, so everyone went back to their rigs round 8 p.m. SUNDAY MORNING: we met for one last time before going to our respective homes; the weather was so cold and the outdoor tables so wet that we didn't stay long; all the food turned cold before we could consume it. Next year we hope that we will be able to use the clubhouse. This has been a sampling of the Sam-a-Gram.
